It is unlikely that depression alone would lead to this sort of behavior, to answer your question directly, people who have major depressive episodes, if they are going to be violent in any way, if they are going to hurt somebody in any way, it's usually hurting themselves and if there's a loss of life, usually because of suicide not homicide. That's what we know depression alone. If there was a personality disorder that was superimposed on top of this, you really have to think there was something else sort of going here.

Dr. Sanjay Guptaは、CNNのChief Medical Correspondent。CNNの番組で医療関連の話題となると、必ず彼が出てきます。 余談ですが、アメリカの某雑誌が選ぶ「最もセクシーな男性」のそこそこ上位に顔を出しています。そのSanjayが、Andersonの「そもそも鬱病ってこういう事を引き起こすものなの？」という質問に答えたのが上の発言です。

今回の事件を受けて、ヨーローッパの航空会社各社は、操縦室には常に2名以上を配置することなどを発表したと言います。今までそうじゃなかった事の方が驚きですけどね、個人的には。
