Criticism has been raised as the draft constitution requires all senators to be appointed by a military-backed council during the first 5 years of the transition period.

Interim Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha called for acceptance of the draft constitution. In a televised speech on Wednesday, he called on the people to set aside their differences and move forward together.

随分むちゃくちゃな憲法草案のように聞こえますが、それでも国民の支持率は60%を超えているようです（言い換えると40%弱が不支持）。もっとも、この数字の基となる国民投票のやり方には批判があったようですが。

タイは比較的安全な国という印象がありますが、クーデターとそれに伴う憲法の改廃は実に頻繁に行なわれています。Yahoo知恵袋によると、1932年の立憲君主制成立以降19回もクーデターが起きたとのことですから、我々が想像するクーデターというより普通の政変に近いですね。
